April 2026 - Leukemia Returned and Brian Returns to the Fight!

At just 7 years old, Brian de Jesus Ortega Ribera is once again fighting leukemia. After months of chemotherapy, radiation, and difficult trips more than 300 miles from his home to the city of Monterrey, Brian’s cancer went into remission in 2025. His family celebrated what they hoped was a new beginning. But in April of this year, devastating news arrived: the leukemia had returned.

Brian lives with his parents and siblings in a colonia near Acuña, Mexico. His father, Raymound, works in a factory and brings home the equivalent of about $64 U.S. dollars per week. During Brian’s most recent trip for treatment, he lost three weeks of work. His mother, Sarah, remained home caring for their infant and other children. Despite the hardship, the family does not complain. They pray, remain thankful for help, and continue doing everything possible for their son.
